The Three Holy Kings

Materials:

  • 6 sparkling wine corks
  • Wine and liquor corks
  • 3 holly berries (6 mm diameter), needle
  • 6 round waggy eyes (6 mm diameter)
  • 3 ice cream sticks
  • Pipe cleaners in blue, red, pink (9 mm diameter), red, lilac (14 mm diameter)
  • Gold aluminum wire (1.5 mm diameter)
  • Small blue Christmas globe
  • One each: decorative pin with a red and blue head
  • 2 red plush pompons (7 mm diameter)
  • Plastic button with a golden edge (about 2 cm diameter)
  • Christmas tree globe cuffs
  • Marabou-Décor-Matt in medium brown, black, purple pink, lilac, violet red, dark violet, dark ultramarine, yellow ochre, nude, orange, azure blue, scarlet red, medium yellow, blue green, tin red, white, dark turquoise, lemon, soft turquoise
  • Gold bronze handicraft color
  • Black fine liner


  1. Cut off the head of a sparkling wine cork, painting it in ultramarine for the head of the moor king. Slant the cork for the body as shown in the example, coating it and then coloring it.
  2. After drying, wrap the pipe cleaners in red and purple around each other, gluing them as the turban on the blue sparkling wine cork. Attach the turban to the body.
  3. Cut off the ends of a thick sparkling wine cork for each of the crowns of the other two kings. Draw lines on the cork pieces for the serrations. First, cut little notches, then increasing tines (see the example). Coat the crowns and the bodies, painting them as shown in the example. Glue the crowns on the slanted heads.
  4. Punch holes for the nose with the needle, sticking the holly berries into them and gluing the waggy eyes onto the face. The moor king is given round aluminium wire earrings as well as pompons for the top of his feet.
  5. Drill holes for the arms and prepare two 5 cm long pipe cleaners. Halve the ice cream sticks for the feet, painting them and fastening them to the body.
  6. Glue the decorative globe into the cuff of a Christmas globe as the gift. Stick the arms in and fixate them on the cuff. Cut a piece of the wine cork into shape for the treasure chest, painting it gold bronze and sticking a shortened pin in it for the lock. After drying, drill holes into the sides and fasten the arms of the king there.
  7. Cut 1 cm off of the liquor cork, painting it gold bronze for the incense receptacle.  Glue the plastic button on one end and the cuff of the Christmas globe on the other one. Fasten the receptacle between the arms.
